About another book…
In the interest of brevity, I will say this: as much as I enjoy writing, educating, and doing outreach, I’m burnt out on books for the time being. Some days (when I’m buried in the minutiae of HTML & CSS… for the sake of getting this site into shape) I’m even burnt out on reading books.
I also need soon to do my own post-mortem on the HTML & CSS… project, by way of learning from my mistakes.
Once this site is complete, I also have a project in mind that I might well self-publish: a “New Beginner’s Guide to HTML.” The original Beginner’s Guide was written by Marc Andreesen back when Mosaic was the beginning and end of Web browsing, and until 1996 or thereabouts it made the perfect introduction to HTML for people who wanted to see their stuff in pixels without delay.
There are plenty of good beginners’ resources online, but I believe that most of them want for similar quality of succinctness and organization — thus why a faithful reboot of the “Beginner’s Guide” concept could find an audience.
Inquiries, notwithstanding burnout
Whatever my state of mind might be, I’m well aware that the process of starting a book project can often consume more time than the process of finishing one — so if you want me to submit a proposal for a project, there’s no time like the present to ask.
